Samsung could release a foldable display smartphone in 2016

Samsung Foldable Display

According to a new report #Samsung is looking to officially release a foldable display smartphone sometime in early 2016. This program is internally known as #ProjectValley and will supposedly be shown off in January 2016. There’s no clarification on whether this smartphone will actually feature a bendable and folding display or two displays that are joined together with a hinge, much like the #Sprint Kyocera Echo from 2011.

It’s quite clear that Samsung is perhaps the only manufacturer in the mobile industry that is serious about display innovation. We’ve already seen the Galaxy S6 edge and the edge+ winning our hearts with their design, so we wouldn’t put it past the company to do something similar with this new crop of foldable smartphones. Fellow South Korean manufacturer LG also showed off its foldable display tech earlier this year, so it’s possible that there will be more than one foldable display handset by next year.
