Nexus 5 and Nexus 6 to get Android 6.0 on Oct 5 according to a carrier document

Nexus 6 Nexus 5 Marshmallow

The #Android 6.0 update will officially go mainstream starting next week as the #Huawei #Nexus6P and the #LG #Nexus5X smartphones are unveiled. This led us to believe that Android 6.0 for older Nexus devices would be issued shortly. And we have now received clarification on that courtesy of Canadian carrier Telus.

According to a document accessed from the carrier, the LG Nexus 5 and the Motorola Nexus 6 will receive the Android 6.0 update starting October 5. That’s just 6 days after the scheduled release of the Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P smartphones, suggesting a quick rollout of the update for two of Google’s most recent Nexus phones.

We’re not hearing about the Android 6.0 update for the Nexus 4 at this point, although we don’t see why it won’t be included given that it has the hardware to back it up.

Although Google will release the update almost immediately to its existing devices, OEM branded handsets could take some time.
