New variant of the Nexus Player might have just been certified

Nexus Player

The #Google #NexusPlayer was not as successful as the company had hoped. This was quite disappointing as the Nexus Player was supposed to be the poster boy for the #AndroidTV platform. And it would seem like Google is prepping the release of another variant sometime soon going by a listing on the FCC’s site.

As we all know, new devices usually arrive here before going official, so this is as good as an actual leak. The timing of this report also aligns with the September 29 event that Google has scheduled for the launch of the LG Nexus and Huawei Nexus smartphones. So it makes sense that the company would want to release the device alongside its Nexus brethren.

The Nexus Player was endorsed as a gaming + entertainment console and the same can be expected of the successor. However, it’s still early days and we’re not sure what features will be upgraded on this model. The FCC listing mentions that this device comes with four USB ports, one micro USB port and one full sized LAN port, so it’s quite clear that this here is indeed the second gen Nexus Player.
