Google Play Newsstand on Android surpasses 1 billion installs

Google Play Newsstand

Google’s Play Newsstand app has just crossed 1 billion downloads/installs on the #PlayStore, which is now reflecting on the app listing. This is a significant achievement for Google, although it doesn’t necessarily tell us about the popularity of the app.

As we know, Play Newsstand is available by default on all Android devices that have Google Play Services installed. Play services comes pre-installed with apps like Maps, Play Store, Play Books, Play Games etc.

Most of the 1 billion club includes Google’s apps and services, with Facebook and WhatsApp being the only third party apps on the list. Newsstand keeps you updated on the latest news with periodical refreshing to make sure that you’re up to date with all the happenings around you.

Most users (like myself), might have seen the app on their phones, but have never found the need to use it. But if you’re willing to give it a go, you can be assured that it will not disappoint you.
