Future versions of the Cyanogen OS could have deep integration of Microsoft Cortana

We’ve already seen how #CyanogenOS is trying to break free from the conventional #Android experience, and a new report indicates that this could go even further in the future.

According to the CEO of Cyanogen, Kirt McMaster, the company is currently in talks with Microsoft to bring #Cortana to the platform. Since Cortana is already available on Android as a Google Now replacement, this move could mean that Cortana might be the default virtual assistant on future Cyanogen OS devices.

It is said that the two companies will increase Cortana integration with Cyanogen OS, going even deeper than what we see with the standalone app right now. This is not welcoming news to our ears given how limited Cortana is compared to Google Now. But if allowed to further increase its feature set and integration, we think this partnership has the legs to threaten Google.

It’s too soon to come to a conclusion however, so we’ll reserve judgment for until we can actually see this Cortana running Cyanogen OS device in action. What do you make of this?
