Amazon will release a $50 tablet this year: Report

Fire HD 6

#Amazon released a 6 inch tablet last year focused towards the small tablet segment. A new report now suggests that the company could be looking to release yet another tablet like that this year with a price tag of just $50. Interestingly, the #FireHD6 costs twice as much (including “special offers” or ads).

The report suggests that Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon has specifically set a target of $50 for this tablet, which could appeal to a wide range of customers during the holiday season. Naturally, we can’t expect much in terms of hardware specifications here, but that probably won’t be a problem given the pricing of the device.

It is said that this device will be about half an inch bigger than the Apple iPhone 6s, hinting at 6 inches. The report mentions that it won’t be able to make voice calls, which is an understandable omission considering the price. It will be interesting to see what comes out of this offering and if Amazon will be able to market it to its potential.
