Problem #1: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge does not show social network apps notifications and randomly freezing up
I just got my new Samsung S6 Edge and I don’t even receive any notifications from my social network apps . The phone is brand new. My keyboard freezes at some points. When I was using my SnapChat my phone completely froze and I had to restart it. I just got the phone and already have a problem with basic apps. I tried re installing them but it does the same thing. Can you help me ? — Zeina
Solution: Hi Zeina. You have a valid point to suspect that it’s not normal for a brand new phone as powerful as the S6 Edge to show signs of problems at this early stage. Well, it not unheard of that there’s always a small chance that a small fraction of mass produced gadgets like smartphones will have problems right out of the box. You have two options here:
- either request for a replacement unit now, or
- Try to troubleshoot the issue and fix it yourself.
The first one is obviously an easy way out, and we recommend that you do it if you still have that option open at this time. This will not only save you time but effort as well.
If you opt for the second, start by booting your phone in safe mode. We suspect that third party apps may be to blame here. When in safe mode, your phone will be forced to run only factory installed apps. This will give you an idea whether or not you need to uninstall apps. To boot in safe mode, just follow these steps:
- Turn off the phone completely.
- Press and hold the Power/Lock key for a few seconds to turn on the device.
- When Samsung logo appears, press and hold the Volume Down key until the lock screen shows up.
- The word “Safe mode” should now show on the lower left corner of the screen indicating that your device is now in Safe Mode.
If the device will work normally while in this mode, begin removing apps starting from the most recently installed.
Some rogue apps may be designed to ignore safe mode altogether so if the problem remains, consider doing a full wipe via factory reset.
Regarding the missing social apps notifications, kindly tweak the notification menu under Settings>Sound & notification. Lollipop has brought a lot of changes including multiple ways on how to refine your notification setup. If you want to receive specific app notification, make sure that you enable it under Priority interruptions. Apps nominated under Priority notifications will show notifications associated with them even if all other notifications have been turned off.
Problem #2: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge S Voice app not working
Configured S Voice to be used in lock screen and set up my wake up message and it still does not work when i say my wake up message on the lock screen or unlocked screen. I have to physically unlock one phone and open the S Voice app. Which is not helpful when driving. — Sarah
Solution: Hi Sarah. S Voice only works properly if you follow the correct parameters. The reason why the app may not recognize you when you tell it to open is most probably the noise around you. Try to configure S Voice again in a quite place so it records your voice accurately. The thing is, it may still not work even after doing this simply because the noise may be too much while you’re driving. That means that the device may be picking a lot of background noise when you’re trying to open S Voice. If that’s not the case, try clearing your phone’s cache partition and see if that will make any difference. Here’s how:
- Turn the device off.
- Press and hold the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons simultaneously.
- When the phone vibrates, release the Power button but continue to press and hold the Volume Up and Home buttons.
- Now, when Android recovery screen appears, highlight the wipe cache partition option using Volume Down button.
- To confirm the selection, press the Power button.
- Wait for a while until wiping the cache partition is finished.
- Now, “Reboot System now” will appear on the screen. To highlight the option use the Volume Up/Down key.
- Press the power button to confirm it, and your device will automatically reboot.
Problem #3: Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge can’t open some apps
I have a few apps on my phone that I will attempt to open. It shows them loading and opening but then it goes right back to the home page. It will not display them even though it showed them loading. I can even go to my open apps to close them but can not use them or open them. — Inez
Solution: Hi Inez. Please clear the cache partition of your phone by following the steps provided above. If that won’t work, please contact us again with the complete list of apps in question.
Problem #4: How to delete individual messages in a thread in Gmail app
I use Gmail app that came with phone for Gmail. It stores multiple emails as a conversation. How do I delete individual emails in the conversation without deleting the entire conversation? If I log in through a browser on my pc, I can delete individual emails. How do I do this from the phone? Thanks! — Jason
Solution: Hi Jason. The only way to delete a message in the Android Gmail app is by deleting the thread (conversation) itself.
Problem #5: Galaxy S6 Edge email app does not follow the online email version arrangement of messages
Email app does not seem to sync properly to reflect only the items that are truly in my inbox. There are past emails in my inbox on the app that I had sent out to another. In the app I have to manually file them so they will no longer be in my inbox where they are already filed away in my inbox online. How do I make it so the app will sync properly and only reflect emails in my inbox? — Audrey
Solution: Hi Audrey. The answer lies on how the email app was designed to work. If you cannot find any setting under the app’s options menu to reflect what you want, please call the developer for assistance.
Keep in mind that some email apps, like the stock Android email app on an S6, may not faithfully follow the format or arrangements of the online (browser) email version. If you are using the stock Android email app, then you are out of luck.

There’s no email from her. I have to go to the browser and there is, on the inbox folder on the correct order. Problem #11: Audio Manager app does not work in Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
Hello, I used to use audio manager as a secret messenger app and it would block calls for me and allow messages to be sent and received without appearing in the usual messaging app, so hidden text messages!
The S6 I have now doesn’t run the app and I am disappointed.
I go into Audio Manager and it says set up SMS blocker.
download and install the android messaging app for the SMS blocker to work on your device
set the Android messaging app as default SMS app on your device
Then it says app not installed, any idea how I can fix this?
Also, during phone calls my phone suddenly sounds like the person on the other end is a digital scratchy sound, they hear the same from my end and have to hang up as it is not possible to hear what is being said. Any Ideas on this one?
Thanks. — Tony
Solution: Hi Tony. Regarding your first concern, the best thing that you can do is to contact the developer of the app for help. We think the problem might coming from their end. They may not have designed the app to work on newer devices at this point.
For your second concern, the problem may be hardware in nature or there’s a network issue in your area or from the caller’s end. Try to narrow down the possible causes by observing how the phone sounds if someone from a different carrier calls you. You can also contact your network provider for more help.
Problem #12: Okay Google on AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge stops working after an update
Been having an issue with Okay Google to use on any screen. The only way to use it is to press the microphone to turn it on. When trying to get a new voice model it won’t record. The phone I am having trouble with is a
- Samsung Galaxy S6
- AT&T carrier

- latest AT&T version of Lollipop 5.0.2
I have tried clearing my caches in the Google app. Disabled and reenable it. Turning on and off my phone. Nothing works. I am using the latest Google app.
Please help me with my problems thank you. — Shz
