Skype for Android update introduces customized ringtones

The #Skype app on #Android has just received an update which introduces improved photo sharing and the ability to set custom ringtones for your contacts, making it pretty much a stock phone replacement.

In addition to these changes, app users will also see change in avatar colors for group conversations, making it easier to distinguish between standalone and group conversations.

Here’s how the developers detail the new update:

Customize incoming call sounds for a contact by selecting a ringtone from your device. In a conversation, tap the lower right and select “Ringtone options” then “Set custom ringtone”.

Share photos from chats with other Skype friends and family who may not be in the conversation. Just tap and hold on the photo you want to share and select “Forward photo”.

For those keeping track, the new update changes the version number of Skype to 5.10. If you’re yet to see the update on your device, make sure you head over to the Play Store manually and download it on your device.

  1. In 2017 we still can’t change Skype’s default notification sound. It’s a standard feature on almost all, mainstream comms apps these days. Come on Microsoft, about time you caught up!
