Samsung shows off the circular UI of the Gear S2 in a new promo video

Samsung Gear S2 UI

Samsung’s #GearS2 smartwatch is scheduled for an early September unveiling as the company mentioned during its #GalaxyNote5 and the #GalaxyS6edge+ unveiling last week. The company has now posted a promo video which is supposed to give us an early glimpse of the smartwatch and its features.

Looking at this video, it’s clear that Samsung is heavily banking on the new circular UI of the wearable, which is something that I’m personally very excited to check out.

It’s not known at this point if this wearable will be exclusive to Samsung devices, but all hints suggest that it will be the case. The Gear series of smartwatches have been limited to Samsung’s flagship devices (with the exception of the Gear Live), but we’re hoping that Samsung makes this wearable compatible with other devices this time around.

As for the feature set, the highlight of the Gear S2 is said to be the rotating dial which could play a key role in the way the user interface is managed, so it should be interesting to see how that pans out. The company is using a circular AMOLED display here and it should pack a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, pedometer and all the other crucial sensors for fitness buffs.

Are you excited for Samsung’s new wearable? Sound off below.
