#Samsung has left no secret about the imminent release of the #GearS2 wearable. While the manufacturer has already confirmed that the wearable will be up on show at the IFA 2015 event next month, the company hasn’t quite shared details on the hardware of the device at this point. But thanks to a new rumor, we might be getting a decent idea of what to expect from the company’s upcoming Tizen based wearable.
A new rumor mentions that Samsung will feature a nano SIM card slot on the smartwatch, to let it function independently of a smartphone. Now this is barely a surprise given that the predecessor, the Gear S was also sporting a SIM card underneath, but the smartwatch didn’t make much of a splash in the mobile industry given its steep price tag and Samsung’s inability to market it the right way.
Perhaps Samsung will have more features to discuss about this time around, in addition to the new circular UI of course. The Gear S2 SDK was made available a couple of months ago to the developers so that there would be enough content on offer for the users in time for a September release.
Do you think having a SIM card slot on the Gear S2 will make it appealing? Let us know.
