S4 No Email Notification Sounds After Lollipop Update
Problem: I finally caved & accepted the Lollipop upgrades over the weekend, thinking that by now most of the bugs must’ve been worked out. I really wish I’d just continued to put it off. Apps have been extremely laggy since updating. I’m using the default Android email app which is syncing my Yahoo and corporate email successfully. However, I am not receiving notifications for any of my Yahoo accounts despite having gone into the email app to make sure notifications are on. I have also gone into Sounds & Notifications to make sure the app is set to priority. I have pulled the battery and left out for several minutes before reinstalling & turning on the phone. Still no new Yahoo email notifications. I have my corporate email set to no notification so I don’t know if the issue lies with the app or Yahoo. Since the Lollipop updates my home screen soft keys are wonky. Is there a way to set/customize them back to the way they were before? Contacts can no longer be edited from a text screen. I suspect there isn’t a fix & that this is just not allowed anymore. Often friends &/or contacts text information so it was especially handy to be able to quickly add to the contact from the text screen. Additionally is there a way to adjust some of the colors &/or backgrounds? Lollipop colors are a bit obnoxious to say the least. In KitKat I had my display set to black background with white text which helps save on the eyes over white background with black text. If you have any questions or need me to clarify anything please let me know. Thanks so much!
Solution: Try to set your corporate email account to make a sound notification whenever an email arrives. Send your corporate email account a message to test if your phone will make a sound. If the issue still persists then the problem may be with the stock email app. The first thing you should do is to clear the cache and data of the email app. Take note that you will need to setup both your email accounts again since they will be deleted.
If you are still not getting any sound notification then I suggest you back up your phone data and do a factory reset. This is a recommended troubleshooting step whenever issues arise after a software upgrade. This procedure may also help resolve the lag issue you are experiencing on most of your phone apps.
Regarding the issue you have with the background and colors if there is no way to customize this in your phone then I suggest you try to download a third party launcher that will allow you to do this. Make sure to only download from the Google Play Store.
S4 No Missed Call Notification After Lollipop Update
Problem: When receiving a missed call, no notification is seen in the front screen on the phone icon. Before updating to version 5.0.1 any missed calls used to appear on the phone icon .please advice if there is a solution. Thanks
Solution: The missed call notification should appear even if your phone is running on Lollipop. Try to restart your phone first by taking out its battery then pressing and holding the power button for at least a minute. Reinsert the battery then turn on your phone. Check if the issue still persists.
If your phone still has the same issue then what you should do next is to wipe its cache partition. If the problem is caused by a corrupt cached data then this procedure will resolve the issue.
If the issue still persists after wiping the cache partition of your phone then I suggest you back up your phone data and do a factory reset. This is a highly recommended procedure whenever issues arise after a major software update on a device. What this does is it eliminates any trace of the old software data that may have not been completely removed from your phone and is now causing issues such as this to occur.
S4 Randomly Loses Service After Lollipop Update
Problem: Since update to 5.01 loses service randomly. Must. Reboot to get back… Wife has same service different phone no problems. Have done factory reset. No change happening all the time.
Solution: It’s actually a good idea to perform a factory reset in this case which you already did since it usually resolves the issue that occur after a software upgrade. The problem is that the factory reset did not resolve the issue. Have you noticed if the loss of service occurs in one particular area? If it does then that area may not be getting a strong signal from the network. You should also rule out any SIM card related problems by trying to use another SIM in your phone then check if the issue still occurs.
S4 No Service After Lollipop Update
Problem: I received a system update for Android on my galaxy s4. Once I did the update my phone no longer has any service and keep receiving a message saying com.android.phone and it is also saying the update will not complete because it will not let me accept the terms and conditions. Please help I don’t know what to do this is update has destroyed my phone and it worked fine prior to that.
Solution: This problem may be caused by a glitch in the current software of your phone. There may still be some old software data in your phone that has not been completely removed and is causing a problem with the new software version. I suggest you back up your phone data and do a factory reset.
If the factory reset fails to resolve the problem then try connecting your phone using a USB cord to a computer running on Kies. Using Kies try to perform an emergency firmware recovery on your device.
S4 TouchWiz Not Working After Lollipop Update
Problem: Since the latest upgrade when I try to install apps to my home screen the phone tells me that touch wiz home isn’t working.
Solution: This may just be an issue with the app data becoming corrupt. You should try to clear the cache and data of the TouchWiz app and see if this does the trick.
If the problem persists then proceed by wiping the cache partition of your phone which you can do from the recovery mode.
If after wiping the cache partition of your phone the problem still persists then I suggest you back up your phone data then do a factory reset.
S4 Hidden Content Issue After Lollipop Update
Problem: After lollipop update last week, the drop down messages from Facebook, text messages, email, and Weather Bug all say “hidden content”. I watched an online video to solve the problem. …no success.
Solution: This is most likely just a setting related issue. One of the key features of Lollipop is that it now gives you greater control of what notification you want to see on your lock screen. Try going to the app menu of your phone then tap on settings. Go to sounds and notifications then go to the notification section. From there tap on “While locked” which brings up a new window. Select “All Content”. You will now be able to see the content of the notifications.
