Hangouts Splits From Google+ On The Web

New Hangouts

After splitting off Photos from Google+ earlier this year, Google is now doing the same with Hangouts on the web. Now, instead of having to go through either Google+ or Gmail, you can just head to the main site.

The new site gives some easy access to all of their Google contacts and various ways to contact them, including audio and video calls, and messages. If you click on one of the big new buttons, you’ll immediately be launched into either a new call or new text conversation.

Google Hangouts engineer Jordanna Chord outlined some of the improvements:

“We are launching another way to use Hangouts today.  From our new site you’ll be able to take advantage of the best of Hangouts in the browser, along with an inspiring image to get you through the day. Check it out and let us know what you think.”

So if you use Google Hangouts, you can just head to the new site here. Enjoy communicating with your friends and family!
