Chinese manufacturers are known to push the boundaries as far as hardware and pricing are concerned. One such company is UMi Electronics, which has just announced the new Hammer S smartphone for its home region, carrying a price tag of just $129.99. Usually, for a price like this, one would expect a relatively average specs sheet, but that’s not the case here.
The UMi Hammer S is revealed to be sporting a reversible USB Type-C connector, which is something that the OnePlus 2 is expected to be packing as well. USB Type-C allows for significantly faster transfer speeds and charging, while also being reversible. This essentially means that you can insert the cable any way you want, much like Apple’s Lightning cable and port.
Further, the UMi Hammer S is shown to be sporting a fingerprint scanner on the back, right below the camera sensor. This should make it compatible with Android’s next major release, Android M which will bring fingerprint scanning support by default.
Other specs of the handset is quite impressive as well. The device is revealed to be packing a 5.5 inch display (resolution unknown), 16GB of internal storage, 2GB of RAM as well as the quad core MediaTek MT6735 chipset. Other features like the camera, Android version and battery are unknown at the moment, but expect those details to be disclosed next month when the handset will be officially revealed.
