The next gen Moto G to be IPX7 certified for water resistance

Moto G 2015

Motorola will unveil the Moto G on the 28th of July and we’re already hearing a thing or two about the hardware and other specifications of the handset. And according to a new leak by a Canadian site, the handset will be water resistant (IPX7) out of the box, which should give it a leg up over the competitors in the sub $200 price segment.

Water resistance is a feature that is seldom seen on midrange and budget offerings, and it seems like Motorola is mindful of that. As for the other specs of the smartphone, it was revealed earlier today that the 2015 Moto G will come with a 5 inch 720p display, an octa core Snapdragon 615 SoC, 1 or 2GB of RAM, 8 and 16GB of storage variants (expandable), a 13-megapixel camera, a 5-megapixel front camera, Android 5.1 Lollipop and a 2,470 mAh battery with 4G LTE.

The manufacturer is also expected to reveal the Moto X during a separate event scheduled for the same day, so July 28 is very significant for the company. Do you think water resistance will make the Moto G a more desirable offering? Sound off below.
