T-Mobile sending out Android 5.1 for the LG G Stylo and the Leon

T-Mobile LG G Stylo - LG Leon

T-Mobile USA has officially commenced the rollout of Android 5.1.1 for the LG G Stylo and the Leon smartphones. These were midrange devices that were unveiled in May, so it has taken us a little by surprise, especially considering the fact that these are midrange offerings.

The updates are sized at 429MB and 316MB for the G Stylo and the Leon respectively. The two handsets launched with Android 5.0 out of the box, so this won’t be a major upgrade for the customers. Given the size of the update however, it is recommended that users download it over a WiFi connection and have at least 50% of the battery capacity available.

The update notification should arrive on your smartphone anytime now, but if you don’t see it yet, make sure you head over to the Settings and try to pull it manually. T-Mobile should finish rolling out the update before the end of the weekend, so most users should have it by tomorrow.
