Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE+ name gets trademarked

Galaxy S6 Edge

The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ has been making its way to the leaks and rumors for quite some time now. But what we’re coming across today could be confirmation of things to come as the company has just filed a trademark for the Galaxy S6 EDGE+ moniker. The application was filed late last week and was approved yesterday, which lines up really well for a potential Q3 release of the device.

It has been rumored that Samsung will release a slightly larger variant of the Galaxy S6 edge with the aforementioned name. Launch was originally scheduled to take place alongside the Galaxy Note 5 in September, but it is also possible that Samsung wouldn’t want to mix up the two devices.

We’re expecting a display size of at least 5.5 or 5.7 inches as the Galaxy S6 edge comes with a 5.1 inch panel. Other rumors have suggested that the device will be sporting the Exynos 7422 or the 7430 SoC underneath, which will be a massive upgrade over the Exynos 7420 powering the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge.

Although filing a trademark is never really an indicator of an imminent launch, we’d like to think so in this case. What do you make of a Galaxy S6 EDGE+ variant launching soon? Share your thoughts with us.
