Developer Edition HTC One M9 getting Android 5.1

One M9

The HTC One M9 might not have seen enough love from the buyers since it was launched in April, but the company has clearly done a lot to please the customers. For instance, the Developer Edition model of the handset is now the latest to receive the Android 5.1 update.

The update brings familiar changes on the handset, so don’t expect anything out of the ordinary. The update also brings some camera related improvements to the table and hopefully a fix to the overheating bug as well. It has the software number 2.6.651.11 and weighs in a touch near 800MB, so make sure you have the device on a WiFi connection before proceeding with the download.

The Developer Edition One M9 is nothing but an unlocked version of the handset and you will find nothing different in terms of the UI. It is important to note that any tweaks that you might have made to the kernel might render the update useless. The update should have started rolling out over the weekend, so the chances are that you already have it by now.
