Samsung officially announced the Samsung Pay wireless payment system earlier this year, with a release pegged for later in 2015. It was recently discovered that the service would see an official release in September, just after the release of the Galaxy S6 edge+ and the Galaxy Note 5.
Today, we’re coming across a demonstration video of Samsung Pay, explaining how it works exactly. As most of us already know, Samsung Pay is very versatile as far as payment methods are concerned.
While the current crop of wireless payment services like Apple Pay and Google Wallet support NFC payments only, Samsung Pay also supports the conventional magnetic stripe units. This opens Samsung’s offering to a wide range of retailers right from the start and will not require merchants to utilize a dedicated NFC based hardware.
Check out the video below for more details on how this feature works. Are you excited for the arrival of Samsung Pay? Do you think it could take on Apple Pay and Google Wallet? Leave your opinion below.
Note that the video is from March, but given the imminent release of Samsung Pay, it’s good to have a reminder of its functionality.
