2015 Motorola DROID phone leaks out revealing familiar design and wireless charging

Motorola DROID 2015

We recently spoke about how Motorola was looking to launch the new DROID smartphone later this year. Today, we’re getting more details on the smartphone courtesy of a new leak from a Chinese source. The leak shows the chassis of the smartphone as well as the back panel, revealing a design identical to the new Moto X handsets.

The chassis image also reveals that the phone will support wireless charging by default, which is expected given that this would be a flagship offering. From the images, it seems like this could be a Moto X Play variant for the American markets as Motorola only released the Moto X Style in the U.S.

Naturally, since this is a DROID phone, it will be exclusive to Verizon, so don’t expect to find it through other carriers in the U.S. when made available. The new DROID smartphone is said to be a worthy successor to the DROID Turbo from last year and as such, we expect the device to be packing a QHD display, 3 or 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and a massive battery underneath with Android 5.1.1 by default.
