Verizon Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge getting their first updates

Galaxy S6

Verizon has started sending out a new firmware update for its variant of the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge. This update introduces some handy features on the device and isn’t just a firmware patch from the carrier.

Top of the change log is the ability to draw on gallery images, bringing that added customization to the two devices. There’s also going to be a new pop-up message on your devices now, which will alert you about the time left before an alarm is about to go off. The update will introduce an emergency calling button as well.

It is hoped that this update also brings an end to user complaints related to the battery life of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge, although this can only be ascertained once users have the update for a day or two. Bear in mind that the Android version remains at Android 5.0.2 and the update carries the build number VVRU1AOD5, so user expecting Android 5.1 are bound to be disappointed.
