Sony SmartBand 2 revealed by Play Store listing

SmartBand 2

Sony launched the SmartBand in mid-2014 and it seems like the company is prepping the launch of a successor, now that we’re almost halfway through 2015. A companion app for the SmartBand 2 has been spotted on the Google Play Store, thus confirming its existence. The Play Store listing has been removed however, which gives more credence to this report.

The screenshots of the app show the app (and the device) in action, with data like heart rate, steps etc available on offer. The data is probably synced over Bluetooth, NFC or on the cloud, so tracking it should be a hassle free process. The app can also show you the battery indicator of the wearable, which is a handy feature to have.

We’re not getting any details on the hardware itself here, but given that an app has already made its way to the Play Store, we don’t think a launch is far away.
