Sony launches the Xperia Z4v for Verizon with a 2K display, Snapdragon 810 and more

Sony Xperia Z4v

The Sony Xperia Z4v handset has just been announced by the Japanese OEM carrying the company’s best hardware to date. The smartphone is featuring a Quad HD resolution display, which is a first for Sony and has certainly taken us all by surprise.

The handset is an exclusive to the American markets through Verizon Wireless as the name suggests. But we’re guessing there will be a T-Mobile model on the cards sometime soon as well. Following the long line of Sony flagships, the Xperia Z4v is water and dust resistant with IP68 certification, so you can use it liberally against forces of the nature.

On the hardware front, Sony has used a 5.2 inch display, a 20.7-megapixel camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage (expandable up to 128GB), an octa core Snapdragon 810 SoC, a 3,000 mAh battery and Android 5.0 Lollipop running by default. The Sony Xperia Z4 as we all know, features an almost identical specs sheet, but with a 1080p resolution display instead.

We’re not aware of Sony’s intentions to bring the device to other markets, but it shouldn’t be the farthest thought from the company’s mind given the demand for high end phones on a global level. The device will make its way to Verizon’s shelves sometime this Summer with no concrete word on pricing available as of yet.
