There was plenty of debate over the actual internal storage supplied with the Sony Xperia M4 Aqua. It was shown that 8GB models of the smartphone had only 1.26GB of usage storage. Sony has now mentioned in the official white paper of the Xperia M4 Aqua that the device comes with 3GB of usable storage before “preloaded applications” are updated.
This sounds just about right given that the users have claimed that updated apps take large amount of space. Of course, the unnecessary bloatware apps can be removed from the device using root, but that’s an unwanted chore for customers who demand ample internal storage out of the box. Sony might argue that the smartphone can use microSD card slots, but that’s not a valid justification for a device which is supposed to feature 8GB of storage inside.
We must point out that the Xperia M4 Aqua is also available in a 16GB variant, which comes with 11GB of usable storage according to Sony. This again, is before the preloaded applications are updated. But somewhere around 9-10 GB is just about manageable, although nowhere near acceptable from a user’s perspective.
