Earlier yesterday, we reported that OnePlus will share yet another hardware aspect of the OnePlus 2 today i.e. on the 25th of June. Well, it turns out that the company wasn’t going to announce a hardware feature of the device, but simply the arrival date of the device itself. The company has now formally announced that the OnePlus 2 will go official on the 27th of July.
What’s special about this event is that the company is teasing this to be a virtual reality based event, with the entirety of it set to telecast in the virtual reality goggles that will be supplied by the company. Users can register on the company’s site to be eligible to receive a pair of VR goggles. Not everybody will be eligible for this though, so you must be lucky to get your hands on one of these.
Here’s what the company had to say about this new launch – “A VR launch lets you stand right next to our team and our fans as we unveil our new flagship. You’ll be able to look around as you check out the phone in a new way and maybe even find a few hidden Easter eggs. It’s a new way of thinking about a product launch. We aren’t talking at you; we are talking with you.”
We hope that the company will have a standalone event announcement stream where non-VR users can catch the unveiling of the OnePlus 2. Do you like the idea of a virtual reality themed event announcement? Sound off below.
