According to Motorola’s David Schuster, the 2013 Moto X is just a few days away from getting the Android 5.1 update. He mentioned that there was an issue with the update that was discovered during the soak test, which has led to this delay. Unfortunately, this update will only be sent out to the unlocked models of the handset and carrier variants will have to wait it out.
But if you own a developer edition version of the Moto X, you can expect the latest version of Android Lollipop running on your device by next week at the latest.
One of the primary advantages of the Moto X (2013) is that it features a relatively stock version of Android, letting Motorola issue updates quicker than usual. This has made the smartphone one of the best in the business and is something which the 2014 Moto X is known for as well. Although the 2013 Moto X is nearly two years old in the market, it’s good to see that the company’s willingness to issue software updates hasn’t died down one bit.
