Text selection on Android M gets a significant upgrade

Android M Text Selection

With Android M going official yesterday, there were a wide range of features that have been discussed. Google has just pointed out at yet another addition with the new ‘M’ release and this time it’s pertaining to text selection. The company has even provided a gif image to tell us how it works with Android M.

As we can see, Google will let you do a wide range of things with text selection. It is possible that this feature is limited to Google Docs as that’s where the demo is being shown. When you select a group of text, you will get the standard options to cut, copy or paste. But when you click the three-dot menu right next to it, you are also given the choice to translate text or even search for that particular text/sentence on Google.

The ability to add a comment or add a hyperlink is already available on Google Docs, but in its current form, the prompt for this opens at the bottom of the display and not like it’s shown here. So it’s clear that there will be quite a lot of changes with Android M.
