Sprint sending out Android 5.0 update for the Galaxy S4

Galaxy S4

Samsung’s two year old flagship, the Galaxy S4 was revealed to be getting Android 5.0 sometime soon. The Sprint variant of the handset is now receiving the update.

The update brings TouchWiz related changes along with some stock Android upgrades as well. As we have mentioned on countless occasions, the update won’t introduce any Material Design related upgrades given the plethora of TouchWiz related tweaks made by Samsung.

But for a handset which has taken a backseat on our minds, this will come across as a major upgrade, so make sure you check out Sprint’s site or connect your phone to Samsung Kies to get your hands on the update.

It is being sent out to both the regular Galaxy S4 models as well as the Sprint Spark variant, so either users won’t have to wait to get the update. If you’re not finding the OTA update yet, heading over to the Settings page might help.

Have you received the update already? Let us know below.
