Sprint Nexus 5 to get Android 5.1.1 LMY48B update soon

Nexus 5

With the Android 5.1.1 update beginning to roll out to tablets gradually, Sprint has now announced that the Nexus 5 smartphone will be getting it as well. The carrier is mentioning that the update will have the build number LMY48B. It is said that the update will include some security enhancements, although the carrier doesn’t mention the specifics.

This is the first time we’re coming across reports of the Android 5.1.1 update for a smartphone as it has been limited to tablets as of now. So it will be interesting to see if Google will send out Android 5.1.1 for other Nexus devices, especially the unlocked ones. This build number is relatively unheard of, so we’re still unsure as to what’s new with the handset.

There’s no OTA download link or a factory image available as of now, but we’ll make sure you’re the first to know when there is something available.
