Pure Edition Moto X now getting the Android 5.1 update

Moto X

With most Motorola handsets already receiving the Android 5.1 update, the company has now started sending out the update to its Pure Edition model of the Moto X (2014). The update will bring changes related to stock Android, so if it’s already on Lollipop, there won’t be any notable differences, at least in terms of the general UI.

Although it’s said to be running a “pure” version of Android, the update brings the popular chop gesture to toggle the flashlight on or off. There are some other updates to Motorola features, but nothing that should come in the way of your stock Android experience. The usual bug fixes are in place as well.

Although Motorola has already commenced the rollout of the update, we must clarify that not all users will see it right away, so maintain patience if the OTA hasn’t reached your device yet. You can also try heading over to the settings and pull the Android 5.1 update that way.
