Google Nexus 9 receiving the Android 5.0.2 update

Nexus 9

The Google Nexus 9 tablet is now receiving the Android 5.0.2 update, with no sight of Android 5.1 yet. This is a bit surprising as most Nexus devices have already received this update.

Android 5.0.2 was sent out as a tablet only update by Google, right after Android 5.0.1, so it doesn’t bear much significance as far as features as concerned. This update is a meager 23.3MB in size, so clearly there won’t be a lot of changes on board.

Google has remained tight lipped about the arrival of the Android 5.1 update for the Nexus 9, so we don’t quite know when this update will be made available for its premier Nexus tablet. We hope that the rollout of the Android 5.0.2 update could set the ball rolling for Google and HTC to start working on the Android 5.1 update.

The update changes the build number to LRX22L, so make a note of that if you’re expecting an OTA. The wait for Android 5.1 is getting a little frustrating for Nexus 9 users as several other non-Nexus devices are almost set to receive the update. We hope Google takes note of this and issues the update at the earliest.
