Google Nexus 9 finally getting the Android 5.1 update

Nexus 9

Customers of the Nexus 9 have been made to wait  a long time, but the Android 5.1 update is finally here. Google has started the rollout of the update, with the information coming straight from the official Google Nexus Twitter page.

The update will be sent out in stages, so not all units will see the update right away. The company hasn’t provided a brief changelog of the update, but we expect the changes to be identical to the Android 5.1 update that we saw on the Nexus 7 and the Nexus 10 tablets. One particularly interesting addition is Device Protection which provides added security to your tablet.

Google hasn’t mentioned if WiFi and LTE variants are getting the update simultaneously, but it’s safe to assume that the WiFi models will be the first to get it. If you haven’t seen the update yet, heading over to the Settings page and trying to pull it manually might help.

Are you seeing the OTA notification on your Nexus 9? Sound off below
