Rogers, one of the top Canadian carriers believes that the Samsung Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 Edge smartphones will be recipients of the Android 5.1 update beginning in June. The carrier doesn’t have an exact timeframe for the release of this update, but this is plenty of information to go with.
If a Canadian carrier is getting the update at that time, it’s only fair to assume that Samsung will send out the update to the international unlocked variants sometime much before that. Not to forget the American carriers as well, who might rollout the update at around the same time.
There shouldn’t be any major changes with the Android 5.1 update for these devices apart from the security related upgrades that Google spoke about during the initial rollout of the update for Nexus devices. It’s not known at this point if the update will simply be Android 5.1 or if Samsung will use the latest Android 5.1.1 ROM.
