Camera benchmark results reveal subpar performance of the HTC One M9

HTC One M9

The HTC One M9 was unveiled in February with a launch taking place shortly after. However, the smartphone has faced one issue after the other, leading to the device not being the most popular among the critics. And new camera benchmark results are not helping the company’s case either.

According to these reports, the One M9 ranks number 22 among smartphone cameras, which is a shameful result for a modern day flagship handset. Interestingly, the Amazon Fire Phone is shown to be doing better than the One M9 in terms of camera performance.

HTC One M9 Benchmark

The One M9 managed to garner a score of 69 which is below par by any standards. By comparison, the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 Edge, Galaxy Note 4 have significantly better marks at 86 and 83 respectively. The main culprit in the One M9 camera was said to be the color oversaturation in low light conditions, which is an important metric for a mobile camera.

The camera is also said to be suffering from fringing, wrong white balance and decreased sharpness of pictures in the corners. In the video department, the One M9 was said to be lacking in terms of color oversaturation and no image stabilization software included. This goes to show that the One M9 is not the preferred choice of customers who prefer a decent camera on their smartphones.
