ASUS is currently heavily focused on its smartphones (ZenFone) and wearables (ZenWatch and yet to be launched ZenWatch 2). However, it seems like the company could soon have its own tablet as well with the ZenPad 8 leaking out in new 4:3 press renders.
The press render also tells us that the smartphone is running on an Intel ATOM processor, which could mean that performance will be a highlight of this tablet. The range of ASUS ZenFone smartphones are also running Intel processors, so this barely comes across as a surprise.
As for the rest of the hardware on board, it is said that the tablet will be launched in 7 and 8 inch variants. The latter will supposedly feature a display resolution of 2048 x 1536 while the 7 inch variant is said to be packing a slightly under par 1024 x 600 display, indicating that the pricing will make up for it.
The device shown here is the 8 inch model and is shown to be packing all the essential connectivity options. Interestingly, we can also see that the handset has an opening on the right hand side, which could accommodate the microSD card slot on the tablet. The back seems to have a multi layered pattern which certainly adds to the overall appeal of the device.
We’re yet to come across a release date for this tablet, but it shouldn’t be far out now.
