Valve and HTC to send units of the HTC RE Vive to the developers for free

HTC forayed into the virtual reality arena with the RE Vive headset back in March. The manufacturer has now announced that they will be sending out units of the headsets to the developers over the summer. This will help them build new apps and games for the platform, offering a wide collection of usable content at the time of the launch.

Even Valve will apparently send out units of the RE Vive to developers. The game developer has mentioned that they will send dev kits of the RE Vive continually to the developers, with units apparently going out every alternate week. The headset will reportedly start shipping out to the customers by the end of 2015.

This means that the developers will have plenty of time on their hands to bring new content to the RE Vive. HTC’s virtual reality headset has the backing of Valve, which means that some good content could be on the cards. Samsung also has a virtual reality headset in the form of the Gear VR, which has received very little attention since it was launched late last year.
