Samsung Galaxy S5 on U.S. Cellular getting Lollipop

Galaxy S5

The Samsung Galaxy S5 on U.S. Cellular is now receiving the coveted Android 5.0 Lollipop update. That’s Android 5.0.1 to be precise. This build is what’s running on all carrier variants of the Galaxy S5 now, with no word from Samsung on when the Android 5.1 update will be ready.

Android 5.0.1 on the Galaxy S5 will bring some interesting changes on board, including the addition of some Material Design elements and a few Samsung specific tweaks as well. The update will finally bring lockscreen notifications, which is one of the highlights of Lollipop.

It will come bundled with the software version G900R4VXU1BOC1. U.S. Cellular claims that the update is already available through an OTA, but can also be pulled using your computer from the Samsung Kies software. This method has been found to be more reliable for those not wanting to wait for the OTA notification to pop up.

The update has already been rolled out to other carrier variants of the smartphone, so it was only a matter of time before U.S. Cellular joined the party. Are you seeing the update on your device yet? Let us know what you think.
