New update to Google Messenger brings support for GIFs

Messenger Logo

Google Messenger is the default SMS app that is offered with the Nexus 6. The app is also available for other Android 5.0 users as a downloadable app from the Google Play Store. This is an excellent SMS replacement apps and gives users the option to choose something apart from Hangouts and the stock messaging app that is supplied with most smartphones.

Today, the Google Messenger app has received a significant update, which brings support for GIF files. Before sending an MMS containing a GIF, users can preview it to make sure they’re sending the right file.

Under the Settings option, a new Advanced Settings has surfaced, which gives you deeper control over delivery reports, MMS auto retrieve options and a couple of other features.

The update has already gone live, but it might help to download the apk file from the link below if you haven’t seen it surface yet. Also, if you own an Android 5.0 device and are yet to get the Messenger app, hit the Play Store link below to give this app a try.
