Microsoft’s virtual assistant app Cortana could be headed towards Android

In a bid to increase user base and popularity of its virtual assistant app, Microsoft is reportedly bringing Cortana to rival platforms like Android and iOS. It is said that Cortana will make its way to the two platforms as a standalone app, something like Google Search on iOS which brings the goodness of Google now to iPhone owners.

This is a good move by Microsoft and will ensure that Android and iOS users give Microsoft’s virtual assistant a try. As it stands right now, Google Now is the best when it comes to performing web tasks while Cortana has a better grasp of native tasks, although Google Now still takes the cake as the best virtual assistant available in the world today. So it will be interesting to see how the Android users respond to Cortana’s arrival on the Play Store.

We don’t have a set date on when Cortana will be available for download on the Play Store, but since word is out already, we don’t think Microsoft will waste any time in making it official. Would you be interested in Microsoft’s new virtual assistant app? Let us know below
