HTC’s “Uh Oh” protection for the One M9 will replace damaged screens and help you switch carriers for free

HTC One M9 Uh Oh

At its New York City event today, HTC has announced a new “Uh Oh” protection plan for the One M9 handset. This is basically an extension of last year’s HTC Advantage program, but with a couple of added benefits.

Well for starters, even water damaged smartphones are now covered under the promotion along with cracked screens. The company will only offer a one time free replacement, so should you damage your replaced unit, you will have to deal with it on your own.

Once you have an HTC One M9 in the U.S. and plan to replace your unit, all you have to do is make a call to 1-(866) 449-8358 and arrange for a replacement. If the user doesn’t find the need to exercise the Uh Oh protection plan within the allotted 12 month period, they will receive $100 from HTC to use it against a new HTC One product next year.

One of the most attractive features of the Uh Oh protection plan is the ability to switch carriers for free as HTC will take care of it for you. We’re guessing the company will also deal with the early termination fees and other charges levied upon the customers for switching carriers. The complete details of this haven’t been disclosed yet, but we hope to get more clarity on that in the coming days.

The Uh Oh protection plan is certainly a neat way to keep users in peace about the state of their phone, knowing that HTC has their backs. It’s features like these that really make a difference to the users, but we’re yet to see if this will impact the sales of the One M9.
