Home appliances company Haier to enter the Android tablet industry

According to a new report from a Taiwanese source, home appliances manufacturer Haier is keen on entering the mobile business. The manufacturer will reportedly launch an Android based tablet soon, according to the source.

The Windows 8.1 tablets shown off by the manufacturer are running Intel ATOM processors. It is said that Haier is using MediaTek SoCs for 3G tablets and will utilize Qualcomm chipsets for 4G LTE enabled devices.

There’s no word on whether the manufacturer will plan a launch outside of China, but it certainly has a market outside the confines of China.
