Android 5.1 brings some interesting changes to the Nexus 6

Nexus 6 - Android 5.1

The Android 5.1 update has been made official by Google and is already believed to be rolling out to some users of the Nexus 6. But before you rule this out as a minor update, we must tell you that there are significant performance improvements on board. This comes in addition to HD Voice calling and Device Protection which ensures that your phone is locked if you lose it.

Consumers are yet to receive the Android 5.1 update on their Nexus 6 handsets, but developers have nothing but praise for Google’s latest release. Renowned developer Francisco Franco had the following to say about performance improvements – “The device is now running full quad-core mode all the time which helps tremendously because the Kernel task scheduler can distribute the workload through all these cores so you’ll get the perception that the device is not hanging anymore.”

This should get rid of even the smallest lags that you might have experienced on the Nexus 6 while switching apps or running random tasks. With Google already announcing the update, it shouldn’t take long for devices to get the OTA notification.

Are you a Nexus 6 user? What do you make of this news?
