Upcoming Android compatible smartwatch from Swatch will not need charging

Popular watch maker Swatch has expressed interest in launching a smartwatch of its own some time ago. The CEO of the company, Nick Hayek has now mentioned that the wearable will break cover within the next three months, thus taking on the Apple Watch head on.

The exciting news however is that Hayek believes this smartwatch will not require charging like conventional wearables. He didn’t clarify as to what this means or how this technology works, but if true, it could be something to look forward to.

It is possible that Swatch will use a watch cell battery which usually has a very long battery life. However, we’re not sure if it will be able to sustain long intervals of usage, especially with the device requiring to be connected to a smartphone at all times.

We’ll wait for more clarification from the watch maker before jumping to conclusions, but it seems like a novel idea. Swatch has confirmed that this wearable will be compatible with Android and Windows Phone devices.
