Sony SmartBand SWR12 launching with a heart rate sensor

SmartBand SWR12

A new patent listing has revealed Sony’s upcoming fitness wearable going by the model number SWR12. This will be an upgraded version of the SmartBand which was unveiled last year. It is said that this fitness wearable will feature a heart rate sensor to keep an eye on your stress levels.

Samsung smartwatches have had this for quite a while now, so it’s not exactly a ground breaking feature to have. It’s also important to note that this is merely a fitness band and not a full blown smartwatch, so it will only serve a niche market segment.

It is possible that Sony will launch this fitness wearable at the MWC event which begins in early March. It has been said that Sony will maintain a low profile during the event, with no flagship announcements expected to be on the cards. This might give Sony ample time to announce this new fitness wearable.
