NVIDIA holding an event on March 3, new hardware expected to be on the cards

NVIDIA has announced a new event which is scheduled to take place on the 3rd of March, during MWC event in Barcelona. The invitation merely says “made to game”, hinting that this is a gaming oriented device. Considering that it’s the Mobile World Congress, it’s more than likely that NVIDIA will unveil a refresh to last year’s Shield Tablet.

The company says this device will “redefine the future of gaming” which could be a reference to the company’s recently unveiled Tegra X1 chipset. The Shield Tablet currently runs the Tegra K1 chipset, so it is possible that NVIDIA will launch a new CPU variant of the tablet and leave everything else unchanged.

We make this assumption based on the fact that the Shield Tablet was announced in the second half of 2014, so it’s still too early to warrant a full blown hardware refresh. The CEO of NVIDIA, Jen-Hsun Huang says – “More than five years in the making, what I want to share with you will redefine the future of gaming,” so it’s clearly something big.

What do you think NVIDIA will show off on the 3rd of March? Sound off with your predictions below.
