Google Now launcher update brings more Lollipop features to older devices

Google Now Launcher

An update to the Google app on Android is now bringing some interesting features to the Google Now Launcher. Interestingly, the Google Now Launcher isn’t seeing any updates, but it’s merely the stock Google app which is getting the update.

As for the change log, users can now expect an experience more in line with Android 5.0 Lollipop. This will be immediately noticeable if you’re using a smartphone or tablet running Android 4.4 KitKat or lower as some of the UI elements will be changed after the update.

The app drawer will now have a white background, like what we saw first on the Android 5.0 running Nexus 6. You can also manage your Google accounts from the Google Now page thanks to the settings panel to the left. The update appears to be live on a global scale and if you’re not seeing a notification yet, make sure you head over to the My Apps section on the Play Store and pull the update manually.

It’s commendable of Google to introduce features which will give older devices a taste of Android 5.0. If you’ve already seen the update on your smartphone, make sure you let us know what you think.
