Alcatel One Touch smartphones have been available outside the U.S. in a wide range of countries. But the company now acknowledges the need to have a presence in the U.S. as well as it has launched a dedicated website known www.alcatelonetouch.us (in partnership with Amazon) which will offer a series of smartphones and tablets directly to the consumers in the States. Through this store, users will also be able to purchase accessories, cases and battery packs for the devices, which is convenient for the customers.
Initially, the company will launch devices like the Idol X+, Idol 2 S as well as the Pop 8 and Pop 7 tablets which don’t exceed the $300 price barrier, so it’s safe to say that Alcatel One Touch is targeting the midrange market with these new offerings. The Idol X+ packs a pretty capable specs sheet and could take significant marketshare out of major players like LG, Samsung in the region.
The handset packs a 5 inch 1080p display, a 2 GHz octa core SoC made by MediaTek, a 13-megapixel camera, 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage (expandable), Android 4.4 KitKat and a 2,500 mAh battery. The pricing for this device is a measly $275, which is quite decent given the hardware on offer.
