Sony’s first Android Wear offering, the SmartWatch 3 is getting the Android 5.0.1 update starting today. This comes as Motorola confirmed to its customers that the same update will be rolling out to the Moto 360 by the end of the day. With this update, customers will see a wide range of changes including the ability to add a multitude of new watch faces directly from the Play Store.
The Android 5.0.1 update for Android Wear is quite significant as it will also introduce some performance related features such as preset brightness modes, battery life enhancements etc. Another nifty addition with the update is the ability to get back a notification which you have recently dismissed, thanks to an undo button. As you can see from the screenshot above, the update changes the version number to just Android 5.0.1, so it’s consistent with its fellow Android brethren.
To receive the update, you will need a smartphone running at least Android 4.3 and above, so be mindful of that. If you’re impatient to wait for the OTA update, you can also hit the XDA link below to download and flash the update file manually.
