Samsung officially begins Android 5.0 rollout for the Galaxy S5

Sprint Galaxy S5

Some units of the Samsung Galaxy S5 are now receiving the Android 5.0 update in Poland. This officially marks the arrival of the update with other parts of the world, including the U.S.expected to receive it over the coming weeks. This means Samsung has stuck to its word of rolling out the update for the Galaxy S5 by December.

As for the features of the update, Sam Mobile notes that Samsung has made drastic changes to the user interface, including Material Design elements in some areas as well. The fonts have been changed apparently, so customers will be greeted to a fresh experience.

One of the most important aspects of any update is performance. And the good news is that Samsung appears to have optimized the update to run smoothly on the Galaxy S5 without any visible lag. Samsung’s TouchWiz UI layering has been accused of slowing down performance to a great extent, but it’s good to see the company making the necessary changes with the new update.

The Android 5.0 specific changes such as the redesigned notifications tray, heads up notification, tap and go etc are also in place here. Samsung should begin the update rollout in other European countries over the coming days with the U.S. probably getting it later this month.
