A new report from Sam Mobile has confirmed the naming of Samsung’s upcoming flagship smartphones. Naturally, the first flagship of the year will be the Galaxy S6 which is also codenamed Project Zero. Beyond this, Samsung will also reportedly launch the Galaxy S6 Edge handset which could feature a design similar to the Galaxy Note Edge.
The launch of the Galaxy S6 is barely a surprise as it was always expected of Samsung to launch a Galaxy S5 successor early next year. However, the Galaxy S6 Edge has taken us completely by surprise. This could be a hint that Samsung will increase the number of flagships every year. While the company was previously limited to launching just two high end smartphones per year, that tally could double to four now if there’s going to be a “Edge” flagship launching as well.
Of course, there’s plenty of time until March, so we suggest you take the report with a pinch of salt. Samsung just went through an employee reshuffle where the mobile chief was almost on the verge of losing his job, so the stakes are clearly high with the Galaxy S6.
