2012 Nexus 7 now getting the Android 5.0.2 OTA update

Nexus 7

Google recently posted the factory image of the Android 5.0.2 update for the 2012 Nexus 7. Today, the OTA notifications have gone live with Google starting to push the update to tablets. Users can manually download the update as well, so you don’t necessarily have to wait tiringly for Google to send the update to your device.

Unlike a factory image, the OTA zip file directly flashes the update on your device, so it’s more convenient, especially for beginners. But remember that you might lose data on your device while pushing a new update, so it’s always wise to have a backup of the current ROM.

As for the changes, the update should bring bug fixes and stability improvements to the device. Since Google is yet to post the official change log, we’re yet to find out what’s different.
